Carbon and oxygen isotope geochemistry of Ediacaran outer platform carbonates, Paraguay Belt, central Brazil Anais da ABC (AABC)
Riccomini,Claudio; Nogueira,Afonso C.R.; Sial,Alcides N..
After the late Cryogenian glaciation the central region of Brazil was the site of extensive deposition of platformal carbonates of the Araras Group. This group includes a basal cap carbonate sequence succeeded by transgressive, deep platform deposits of bituminous lime mudstone and shale. Facies and stratigraphic data combined with carbon and oxygen isotopic analyses of the most complete section of the transgressive deposits, exposed in the Guia syncline, were used to evaluate the depositional paleoenvironment and to test the correlation of these deposits along the belt and with other units worldwide. The studied succession consists of 150 m thick tabular beds of black to grey lime mudstone and shale with predominantly negative delta13C PDB values around...

Contemporary distributions of Panurginus species and subspecies in Europe (Apoidea: Andrenidae: Panurginae) Naturalis
Pattiny, S..
Contemporary distributions of Panurginus species and subspecies in Europe (Apoidea: Andrenidae: Panurginae) The largest number of Old World Panurginus Nylander, 1848 species is distributed in the West- Palaearctic. The genus is absent in Africa and rather rare in the East-Palaearctic. Warncke (1972, 1987), who is the main author treating Palaearctic Panurginae in the last decades, subdivided Panurginus into a small number of species, including two principal taxa admitting for each a very large number of subspecies: Panurginus brullei (Lepeletier, 1841) and Panurginus montanus Giraud, 1861. Following recent works, the two latter are in fact complexes of closely related species. In the West-Palaearctic context, distributions of certain species implied in...

The co-evolution of Black Sea level and composition through the last deglaciation and its paleoclimatic significance ArchiMer
Major, Candace O.; Goldstein, Steven L.; Ryan, William B.f.; Lericolais, Gilles; Piotrowski, Alexander M.; Hajdas, Irka.
The Black Sea was an inland lake during the last ice age and its sediments are an excellent potential source of information on Eurasian climate change, showing linkages between regionally and globally recognized millennial-scale climate events of the last deglaciation. Here, we detail changes from the last glacial maximum (LGM) through the transition to an anoxic marginal sea using isotopic (strontium and oxygen) and trace element (Sr/Ca) ratios in carbonate shells, which record changing input sources and hydrologic conditions in the basin and surrounding region. Sr isotope records show two prominent peaks between similar to 18 and 16 ka BP cal, reflecting anomalous sedimentation associated with meltwater from disintegrating Eurasian ice sheets that...

The impact of the last European deglaciation on the deep-sea turbidite systems of the Celtic-Armorican margin (Bay of Biscay) ArchiMer
Zaragosi, Sébastien; Bourillet, Jean-francois; Eynaud, Frédérique; Toucanne, Samuel; Denhard, Benjamin; Van Toer, Aurélie; Lanfumey, Valentine.
The compilation of results obtained on three giant piston cores from the Whittard, Shamrock and Guilcher turbidite levees reveals a high-resolution stratigraphic record for the Bay of Biscay. Due to the abundance of reworked sediments in these sedimentary environments, a specific methodological approach, based on an X-ray-assisted subsampling phase associated with sedimentological, geochemical and micropalaeontological analyses, was implemented. With an accurate chronological framework, this multi-proxy investigation provides observations on the 'Fleuve Manche' palaeoriver and the British-Irish Ice Sheet (BIS) histories over the last 20,000 years. The results obtained highlight the direct influence of the decay of the BIS on the Bay of Biscay deep-sea...

Wide-range genetic connectivity of Coney, Cephalopholis fulva (Epinephelidae), through oceanic islands and continental Brazilian coast Anais da ABC (AABC)
Souza,Allyson S. de; Dias Júnior,Eurico A.; Galetti Jr,Pedro M.; Machado,Erik G.; Pichorim,Mauro; Molina,Wagner F..
The Epinephelidae form a group of species of high biological and economical interests. It´s phylogeographic patterns are not well known especially the distributed populations in the western region of the Atlantic Ocean. Among the representatives is a small species called Cephalopholis fulva, Coney, which presents a wide geographical distribution, polychromia, hermaphroditism and is quickly becoming a large target for the exploration of commercial fishing. The genetic and historical demography were obtained through the partial sequence analysis of Control Region from six locations on the coastline of Brazil from the northeast coast to the southwest coast, including the oceanic islands of Rocas Atoll and Fernando de Noronha Archipelago. The analyzed samples...
